excited about tomorrow's game...

Pitching matchup for June 4, 2006

BOS: RHP Matt Clement (4-4, 6.91 ERA)
Clement is going through a bit of a rough stretch at the moment. He gave up eight runs to the Yankees in a four-inning outing on May 24, then allowed six runs to Toronto five days later, getting the hook after just 3 1/3 innings -- his shortest start of the season to date. The eight-year veteran -- a National Leaguer until 2005 -- has never faced the Tigers.

DET: RHP Zach Miner (6-0, 2.82 ERA in Triple-A Toledo)
Miner becomes the first Tigers pitcher to make his Major League debut in a start since Justin Verlander last July. No Detroit pitcher has won his big-league debut since Andy Van Hekken shut out the Indians on Sept. 3, 2002.

Makes me wonder if Toledo / other Minor league teams get pissed off when they do well, then lose their good players to the major league and start doing crappy.

Probably. I know I would be mad, but happy for them to get a shot at the big leagues ;)

I agree, and what an ego boost for Miner to win his 1st ML start against the stupid red sox.

I remember we tried hard to sign Clement when he was a free-agent a couple years ago. Good thing we didn't!

ha ha ha I know, and what did we get instead? Precival? I think it was that year. I guess it's good people were afraid to come here.

I don't think many free agent signings turned out well that year. Glad we didn't overpay Beltre either.

Depressing is right. Man I was very angry at that ump. Esp when he just sat there and took everything and didn't yell back.

i actually got to watch the game!! thanks to my bud for taping it for me!!!! but i had the luxury of fast forwarding through the consecutive walks turned into runs.. but i enjoyed leylands little rant there, i'm not going to lie.. when he went and SHOWED the ump where the pitch was = priceless.
